ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival to Negombo

Welcome to the Pearl of the Indian Ocean! You will be greeted by our Sri Lankan representative at the Airport and will be guided you to the Car and take you to the hotel in Negombo which is about 30-minutes drive. Depending on your arrival time you may be able to do a quick City Tour if time permits. Negombo is a popular fishing village and sometimes is called the “Small Rome” you have more to explore tomorrow.

Day 2: Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Wake up to the sound of the sea breeze. Enjoy your breakfast and start your journey to Sigiriya. Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the evening which reaches almost 200 meters in height, this will open your eyes about the ancient Sri Lankan architecture where you will see Water gardens, boulder gardens, art galleries and ruins of the castle and witness the sunrise as well. Sigiriya rock fortress. Among locals, this is called the “8th wonder of the world” absolutely marvelous fortress complex which dates back to 477 CE situated 200 meters high from the ground. This giant rock fortress has water fountains, boulder gardens, frescos, mirror wall, relics of the castle and many more exciting monuments from the bottom to the top of the complex. This is definitely the most visited tourist attraction in Sri Lanka. UNESCO has declared this ancient city as one of the World Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Some people believe that Sigiriya is a post-historical archeology turning point of Ravana. According to them, Sigiriya may be the Alakamandava (the City of the Gods) that was built up before 50 centuries ago by King Kubera who was the half-brother of Great king Ravana. In the evening you can do a soft Hike to Pidurangala rock to witness a beautiful sunset from the top. The rock next to Sigiriya is called Pidurangala. King Kasyapa built his King’s Palace on Sigiriya, but he worshipped Buddha on Pidurangala. The monastery dates back to the third century BC, but it was under Kasyapa that it became huge. It’s said the monastery was home to 500 monks and occupied an area of 14 acres during his reign. Rerun to the tree house and relax.

Day 3: Enjoy a Cycle trail through the backroads

Today you will do an exciting Cycle Ride through the back roads of a Habarana village. You will cycle along the gravel roads passing by the local village houses. Stop by a village house to taste a herbal drink and have a snack. Thereafter you will enjoy a Catamaran boat ride in a lake where you can witness both Sigiriya and Pidurangala rock at the same time. You will end the ride with a Sri Lanka Rice and Curry Lunch in a Mud Hut in the village. In the evening visit Dambulla Cave Temple which displays the ancient stone carving and Painting skills of Sri Lankans craftsmen. Golden Temple and Rock caves in Dambulla. Dambulla is an exciting tourist destination situated in the central province of Sri Lanka. Approximately 150 Km away from Colombo. The world-renowned rock cave temple complex in Dambulla golden temple dated to the 2nd century BC is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site due to the historical, religious & unbelievable architectural value. This site has over 80 caves, some of which are used to practice deep meditation by Buddhist monks. This Rock temple has five different caves with 153 magnificent Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan monarchs and 4 Hindu gods. Return to your tree house and relax.

Day 4: Travel to Hill Capital

Today after breakfast you will travel to Kandy, the Heritage city. In the afternoon start to discover Kandy city by visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic which is the most respected religious monument in Sri Lanka. Kandy, the city of wonders is the hill capital of Sri Lanka, surrounded by sky kissing hills, green valleys, pure rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. Kandy is also the cultural center of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO world heritage city. The most respected and celebrated Buddhist monument, the sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha is placed at the Dalada Maligawa, the temple of the tooth which is the most important attraction in Kandy. Buddhist devotees from all over the world visits this place all year around. Royal botanical garden, KCC shopping mall, the ancient lake in the middle of the city, Gem museums, souvenir shops and many more modern and ancient attractions are available in Kandy. You can also witness a colorful Cultural Show performed by the local traditional dancers.

Day 5: Adventure Day for Rafting and Hiking

Today you will travel to Kithulgala to enjoy an adventurous White Water Rafting session. This will be once in a life-time experience for you and the river is famous for its location where the “Bridge on the River Kwai” was filmed in 1957. Whitewater Rafting in Kitulgala The most famous destinations for whitewater rafting in Sri Lanka is the picturesque region of Kitulgala, Situated 80 km away from Colombo, about an hour-and-half by road. Kitulgala was the filming location for the famous Hollywood movie, Bridge on the River Kwai. Whitewater rafting in Kitulgala takes place on the Kelani River of Sri Lanka, in the areas where whitewater occurs. Whitewater is created when a river’s gradient increases enough to cause turbulence and entrain air in its body. There are five rapid in which you can raft, and they are graded between Class 2 and 3, according to international rafting standards. those are given names - Head Chopper, Virgin’s Breast, Butter Crunch, Killer Fall, and the Rib Cage. After a thrilling time journey to Adam’s Peak. Check-in to the hotel and at late night start climbing Adam’s Peak to witness the next day morning beautiful Sunrise. Adam’s Peak (Sri Padaya), The spiritual trek This giant mountain is considered sacred to all major religious groups in Sri Lanka, the Buddhists, Hindus, Christians and Muslims. Each community has its own religious tale of the mysterious foot print on the pinnacle of this rock. this is also known as Sri paada mountain & Butterfly mountain. Adam’s Peak is one of the most revered sites in Sri Lanka, with thousands of pilgrims flocking to climb to its top as an act of their devotion during the religious season December till April or May. Adventure lovers climb this during offseason as an adventure trek.

Day 6: Travel to Famous Ella

After climbing down Adam’s peak today you will travel to Ella, the famous location for magnificent views, mountains, waterfall. The beautiful hill country village surrounded by mountains, tea plantations, and greenery everywhere you go. Ella is the best place to relax and wind down and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The Ella Gap offers a stunning view and on a clear night, you can see the subtle glow of the Great Basses lighthouse in the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The Ravana Ella Falls is another spectacular sight in Ella, the perfect place for a quick dip in the cool waters. Ella’s Rock offers a breathtaking view of the countryside, the walk up to the rock itself is beautiful, passing through rail tracks and tea plantations. You will be hiking to Ella Rock in the afternoon where you have beautiful views from the top. You will pass by the famous Nine Arch bridge during this hike. Later arrive at the hotel and relax after a continuous hiking day.

Day 7: Game Dive at Yala National Park

Today after the breakfast you plan is to travel to Yala to visit the famous National Park to spot Leopards and Wild elephants. But before that there is more adventure, you will be taken to experience the longest zip liner adventure experience at Flying Ravana. Buckle-up, it’s time to fly. Flying Ravana is Sri Lanka’s first-ever zip-line, located amidst the luscious green estates of Ella. The two-wire zip-line stretches for more than half a kilometer, slides at 80kmph and offers a bird’s-eye view of the beautiful hills of the island. It is exclusively designed for adventure enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies who prefer a not so ordinary hillside experience. After the Zip liner adventure, you proceed to Yala. On the way stop by to witness Rawana waterfalls and Ella Gap. Continue your journey to Yala and in the afternoon enjoy a Game-Drive at Yala National Park. Park. Yala National Park Yala National Park is located between Southern and Uva Provinces of Sri Lanka. It is the second-largest park of the country and is also one of the earliest wild sanctuaries. The largest breed of leopards is found in this area. Probably sighting months of leopards are from January to July. Two prominent pilgrim sites are also situated within the park. The park was severely damaged during the 2004 Tsunami catastrophe. After an exciting safari, you will check-in to the Campsite in Yala for your overnight stay.

Day 8: Travel to capital Colombo City

Enjoy your breakfast in the wild and today you will travel to Colombo, the capital city for your last night. On the way pass by the Stilt fisherman and stop at Galle Fort to explore the Dutch Fort and its colonial buildings. Continue to Colombo and check-in to the hotel. Late evening explore the Colombo city on your own. The busiest place in Sri Lanka is Colombo, the commercial capital of the country. Colombo is a beautiful city with modern high rise buildings amidst old colonial ones making it a picturesque place. Colombo offers a lot for tourists including the National Museum and the Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala which are worth a visit. Galle Face Green in Colombo, the favorite hangout spot for locals and tourists alike overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and surrounded by tall beautiful buildings. Viharamaha Devi Park with tall flowering trees that bloom during April is a quiet serene place in the middle of the busy city. Colombo is also a shoppers’ paradise with posh shopping malls and the famous Pettah market.
