ITINERARY

Day 1: Airport - Colombo

Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Here, you will be met by our chauffer-guide. After the formalities at the airport, you will be escorted to your air-conditioned vehicle and proceed to Kandy. Reach Colombo and Check-in to the Hotel. Sri Lanka as a Buddhist Country, Colombo city resembles the busiest town in Sri Lanka. Despite the fact that the city is occupied, yet subsequent to entering a Temple all of a sudden, your mind will be quiet. It will infiltrate to your entire personality and naturally, you will be gotten away from the fastidious sentiments. There are a few well known Buddhist Temples in and around Colombo you can visit popular Temples, for example, GANGARAMAYA, BELLANWILA VIHARAYA, MANELWATTA RAJA MAHA VIHARAYA. In the evening you can take part in a pooja ceremony at Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara. On completion of the visit return back to the hotel and relax.

Day 2: Colombo - Anuradhapura

Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Sigiriya. After breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Anuradhapura and check-in to the Hotel. In the evening take part in a Chanting and Pooja ceremony at Sri Maha Bodhiya and Ruwanweliseya. On completion of the visit return back to the hotel and relax.

Day 3: Anuradhapura

In the morning enjoy the breakfast at the hotel, then commence a City tour of Anuradhapura. Walk through the ancient ruined city of Anuradhapura, which was the capital for over a millennium until the 10th century AD. View the pagodas, monastic buildings, and ponds that are scattered all over the vast area. Visit important landmarks such as Jetavanarama, which was one of the tallest buildings of the ancient world, the Sri Maha Bodhi and the ruins of the huge Abhayagiri Monastery. Gain more knowledge about Sri Lanka's history as you walk in the footsteps of Kings. On completion return back to your hotel and relax. Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures. On completion of the visit return back to the hotel and relax.

Day 4: Anuradhapura - Dambulla - Polonnaruwa

After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Dambulla. Visit the historic caves of the Golden Temple of Dambulla, dating back to the 1st century BC. View the ancient murals depicting the life story of Lord Gautama Buddha. Look at the hundreds of figurines of Buddha and other deities scattered throughout the five main caves. Visit the Cave of the Divine King, Cave of the Great King and the Great New Monastery. See the giant golden Buddha Statue just a little distance outside the cave complex. Thereafter proceed to Polonnaruwa and commence a city tour. Visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, which was the second major capital of Sri Lanka. Walk through the ruins of the city that flourished between the 10th to the 13th century AD. View important monuments such as Gal Vihara, Vatadage, the lotus bath, Lankathilaka Temple and the statue of King Parakramabahu whose reign was considered the golden age of Polonnaruwa. Get to know more about Sri Lanka's ancient history. On completion proceed to Hotel.

Day 5: Sigiriya - Matale - Kandy

After breakfast at the hotel proceeds to Sigiriya. Climb the 5th century AD rock fortress, Sigiriya, where the King Kasyapa ruled. Walkthrough the entrance framed by the paws of a lion that is quite appropriate for its name, '’the Lion Rock”. View the beautiful unfading murals that brought Sigiriya its fame. Climb the steep staircase to see the terraced gardens and still-working cisterns. Walk through the tunnels leading to the palace as you get a feel for times long past. Thereafter proceed to Kandy via Matale. Stop at a Spice Garden. En-route visit ancient Aluvihara rock temple, located in Matale. Aluvihara is of great significance in the history of Buddhism. It was here that the oral teachings of the Buddha were committed to writing – the Tripitaka - for the first time in the 3rd century. Continue to Kandy and Check-in to Hotel In the evening commence a city tour of Kandy, Enter the highly historic royal palace complex of Kandy, where the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is housed, and see its marvels. Go on technical tours related to arts such as gem crafting, woodcarving, and batiks. Next Watch the Kandyan Cultural Show with its colorful traditional dances and delightful music. On completion return back to the hotel and relax.
