This vast green expanse is an oasis in the heart of Florence, representing a veritable open-air museum, populated by ancient and Renaissance statues, adorned with caves, above all that of Bernardo Buontalenti and large fountains, such as those of Neptune and Ocean. The successive dynasties of the Lorraine and the Savoys expanded its borders, which nowadays run along the ancient city walls up to Porta Romana.
