The Fast Cars
Enzo Ferrari from Modena is the heart and soul of the Ferrari brand. Enzo spent his life racing as well as designing and building sports cars. In 1924, he became an official driver for Alfa Romeo. However, after five short years, he founded his very own Scuderia Ferrari in Modena. The company as we know it today came into existence in 1947 when the first Ferrari model left the production.
The Cheese
Parmigiano-Reggiano is a succulent invention from the 11th century. Its production originated in the Enza valley. However, it quickly spread to the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Mantua to the right of the Po River, and Bologna to the left. This parmesan cheese is a clever synthesis of heat, special milk, craftsmanship, and aging. The typical round parmesan forms are 40cm wide and 20-24cm high, weighing 37kg on average.
The Vinegar
The documented history of balsamic vinegar dates back to 1046 when Emperor Enrico III of Franconia got a bottle of it as a gift. While today we use vinegar largely for culinary purposes, in Middle Ages, many utilized it as a disinfectant. subsequently, it earned a good reputation as a miracle cure for all kinds of aches. The Balsamic Vinegar of Modena (Aceto Balsamico di Modena) is a licensed product. Only Modena and Reggio regions can truly produce this type of vinegar.
In its essence, its an aged reduction of sweet white grapes. Young vinegar takes 3 to 5 years to mature; middle-aged 6 to 12 years, and old (the most pricey of them all) takes 12 to 150 years to mature.
