Madagascar is largely safe, but petty crime and theft can occur, so ensure your belongings are safe and remain vigilant. Stick to well-lit areas with large crowds and try to avoid more secluded areas, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area. Cyclone season can also be dangerous for tourists, so try to travel between April and October.
