The Puffin Express boat tours have been a favourite for over 20 years.

Operated from Reykjavik's old harbour, the excursion uses a purpose-built vessel, Old Skuli, whose shallow draft permits close coastal approaches so passengers can enjoy intimate views of seabird colonies. The islands visited are characterised by small hills and rocky shores, offering dramatic coastal scenery and habitats for colourful birdlife.

Guides accompany each sailing to share both facts and playful anecdotes about puffins and the other species that frequent the area, making the experience entertaining and informative for visitors of all ages.

During the crossing, Reykjavik reveals a different aspect of itself as buildings and islands are seen from the sea, enhancing the sense of place. Pausing with engines off allows a peaceful observation period to appreciate the birds and surrounding landscapes.

This combined offering also includes a flexible city sightseeing element that enables independent exploration of Reykjavik at leisure, making it easy to balance wildlife viewing with urban discovery.
